LEADER is participatory regional development in the service of rural communities, the private sector and civil society. Participation here means co-design and co-financing.
LEADER offers the greatest thematic scope in the area of regional development, as the project selection is made by the Local Action Group. This form of self-determination of the region only exists in LEADER.
What is the LEADER forum?
- We are an independent and voluntary association of all LEADER regions in Austria
- We see ourselves as a communication and working body at the implementation level of LEADER
- We are committed to the further development and strengthening of the LEADER approach

What does the LEADER forum do?
- We strengthen cooperation between the LEADER regions and the higher-level bodies/networks/organisations
- We point out problems in the LEADER/CLLD implementation and provide contributions to further development
- We are actively involved in committees, meetings and working groups at national and international level to ensure practicable implementation in the regions
- We Strengthen the exchange of experience between the regions, initiate co-operation and communicate overarching interests
